Check the domain before someone claims it
When a user claims acme.com for a workspace, turns on auto-join or SSO, or connects a custom domain, call /v1/domain. You get the registration date when on record, parked or dead status, mail host, SPF and DMARC, and a verdict, in the same request.
What the domain is, before you trust it
Every answer lists the flags behind it and the facts that produced them.
Age and status
domain_quality reports the registration date when on record, and whether the domain is active, parked, or dead. ZERO_DAY_DOMAIN fires for domains registered 30 days ago or less.
Mail setup
dns shows the mail host, MX records, SPF and DMARC. NULL_MX_RECORD, BOGON_MX_RECORD and NO_MX_RECORDS mark domains that cannot take mail.
Typos and brand look-alikes
did_you_mean catches typos of major mail providers. SUSPICIOUS_DOMAIN_PATTERN flags random-looking names and brand names with added words, such as login- or -support.
Practical questions
Does a good verdict prove someone owns the domain?
No. Keep your ownership check, such as a DNS TXT record or a confirmation email. EmailScore tells you what the domain is, not who controls it.
Why check a domain that already passes ownership verification?
A domain registered yesterday, or one parked with no mail setup, can still pass a TXT check. The verdict tells you whether it looks like an established organization's domain.
Is this the same check /v1/email runs?
Yes. /v1/email runs the same domain check and returns it as domain_verdict, so a domain claimed at signup and its members' addresses checked later get their domain answer from one function.
Can I check many domains at once?
Yes. /v1/domain/bulk takes up to 10,000 domains per request, 1 credit each, with an account.
